To begin with, a reminder of all the Poldark locations along with a brief description of what ‘happened’ here. For those wishing to visit themselves, most churches in Cornwall are open all/some of the time or the key is available. A few other places are also open to the pub, for example St Mawes castle, althoug opening hours vary and it might be an idea to check with the local Tourist Information Office before going.
Godolphin Hall & Trerice Manor: ‘Trenwith’ was the home to Francis and Elizabeth Poldark and later George Warleggan and Elizabeth.
Trelissick House: Home of Ralph Allen Daniell
Mousehole Village: Used for the march of the rexellious miners in the first TV series
Boconnoc : ‘Penrice’ (Aunt Agatha’s home and later that of George and Elizabeth).
St Winnow’s Church – made famous by the wedding scene from the second series.
Pendeen & Lelant : ‘Nampara Cove’ is the fictional name of this beautiful area; a series of cliffs and inlets used to represent the Cove.
‘Nampara’ was two completely different houses. Pendeen Manor Farm and Botallack Manor Farm in the first series; the exterior of a seventeenth century manor and farm near Port Quin in the second series.
Lundy Bay area: Warleggan’s fences destroyed by Ross Poldark here.
Lamorna: Sawle village is a community very like that of Lamorna.
Sandbar at Porthcurno: Scene of Demelza’s landing by boat in the books although the strong tidal currents made filming too dangerous so an alternative was used near Prussia Cove.
Demelza’s Cave near Seal Hole Cave: Scene of the meeting between Hugh Armitage and Demelza.
St Enodoc Church: this was used to film the wedding of Rowella Chynoweth with Arthur Solway.
Doyden Point near Port Quin: During the first TV series this was Dwight Enys’ house – where Keren Daniell came to visit.
Porthluney Beach: Used to dramatic effect at the beginning of the second TV series with Ross Poldark galloping across the beach.
Portholland: ‘Roscoff’ in the TV series.
Lanhydrock House: Home to Sir Francis Bassett in the second TV series.
St Winnow Church: the wedding of Dwight Enys with Caroline Penvenen was filmed here.
Roscarrock: used extensively for a number of scenes; this was used to represent the house given to Demelza’s two brothers to renovate; the back of it was used for the Sawle Faire scene; the back of the house was where Ross was taken to be shot; also used for the ‘hanging’ of Ned Hoskin.
Other places used for filming:
St Mawes Castle: ‘Fort Baton’, Brittany
Cudden Point, Prussia Cove Lundy Bay Quin Cottage, Port Quin
